Kingston Ontario Newborn Photographer | Newborn Model Call
We have some new props and variations of poses to try out and are updating our available colour palettes and are in need of some newborn models for the month of April!
If your newborn will have a birthdate between April 1st and April 15th then please read the criteria below and fill out the application using the button below. If selected, we will then forward more details about the session to you (how to prepare, what to bring, etc).
We are an inclusive photography studio and believe that representation matters so we welcome all to apply and we hope to one day have every person ‘see’ themselves in our portfolio. We will try to connect with you within 4 business days of your application to see if you have any questions for us and to see if we’re a good fit, but please be sure to read the criteria below:
You must be ok with public social media posting and use of images in printed material as well as on our website/portfolio.
You must be okay with Jen taking videos of your session for social media and to be displayed on our website.
Model calls are set up for a couple of reasons. I like to try new things (props, backdrops, outfits, colour combinations, etc), work on posing variations, try new outfits for Mom with baby, etc. Because of this, nothing is guaranteed. It’s basically like a creative and fun session for me with the bonus of you receiving professional portraits of your little one.
Because of this, clients won’t be able to choose the colours I use or what I photograph their baby in or on (the props chosen). There is also no guarantee of a certain pose or prop being used. Your baby is in good hands as I have over 12 years of experience and have specialized in newborn photography for over 9 years.
A typical newborn session can last up to 2-3 hours, I’m hoping for this model call to last around the 1.5 hour mark depending on how baby is doing that day and what poses/props I’d like to photograph during your session. It’s a bit of a time commitment. I have a comfy couch available for you while I work and you’re welcome to get in a much needed nap or watch Netflix when you are not feeding baby.
We ask that only the parent(s) of the baby attend. Please leave other children/grandparents, etc at home.
As there are a few poses/backdrops we’d like to try with a parent and baby, if you’d be willing to be included in the session please make sure to check that box in the application. You’ll be asked to send a cell phone picture of yourself and for Mom’s a general size as we have a few outfits we’d like to have photographed with babies in specific sizes (example M/L, 2x, etc).
You will receive 3 fully-edited images of your choice from a private, online proofing gallery. If you’d like to purchase any products/artwork/ additional digital images, you’re more than welcome to but there is no pressure to do so. As an additional thank you for being a model, you will receive 10% off any additional products/artwork or digital images you’d like to purchase including our regular digital collections offered to our clients.
We ask that participants not be already booked with another newborn photographer. Only those not booked with a photographer for newborn portraits should apply.
Sessions will take place in our Odessa, Ontario studio at 10am, Monday-Friday
We are expecting a large amount of participants to contact us so please be patient as we try to get back to you as soon as possible. Jennifer Willard Photography is located in Odessa, Ontario, just 12 minutes from Kingston, Ontario down Princess Street or 2 minutes from Highway 401. We specialize in creating editorial portraits of pregnant mothers, happy and creative newborn portraits and the grins and giggles of babies in their first year of life. We are known for our use of colour and love creating photographs with vibrant detail.
