Christmas Tree Farm Photos | Kingston Ontario

Guess what’s back again this year? A client favourite - we’re heading back to Carole’s Christmas Tree Farm for some fun and festive family photos! In the sun or in the snow, nobody knows!

You’ll love this relaxing photo session with your family where we explore a bit of the farm (I’ve got some favourite spots) and we’ll get into the Holiday Spirit! We’ll be creating both posed and unposed looks and having fun while doing it!

Don’t celebrate Christmas? That’s okay, we use the beautiful trees and barn as a backdrop so it’s the perfect setting for any family or couple looking for some updated portraits with their family in the great outdoors.

CLOTHING OPTIONS

We know that picking out outfits can be hard for families so we generally recommend choosing between 2-4 colours to keep it simple. We have great tips on what to wear to family photos on this blog but you can’t go wrong with darker colours or festive green and red! Remember these are your pictures so they should reflect what types of clothing you and your family like to wear to show your personalities. We’ve also created a fun Pinterest Board with beautiful clothing options for the whole family that are full of layers and textures and show each family’s personality!! Soooo many scarves and toques and I’m loving them all!

Expert Tip

We recommend not wearing any clothing with big logos/words/characters on them because when you move around parts will be covered and who knows what that word will spell ;)

TIPS AND THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • The session is for one immediate family but you can choose to add on extended family for a small fee - why not invite the grandparents to join you for some updated extended family portraits!

  • Be prepared for cold or warm weather - wearing layers makes this easy

  • If you have a little baby, please bring a hat for them - we’ve seen some very cold babies in the past. Plan to have the hat go with their outfit in case it’s cold and they need to use it!

  • If it’s calling to be cold in the forecast, and you didn’t plan on coats in the pictures, bring a blanket or coat the kids can take on and off as we walk to different areas so they can get warmed up. Better yet - plan cute toques and mittens as part of your outfit! It’s okay if you are more bundled up for these pictures then you would be in the studio and as I said we’ve had both warm Novembers and cold ones!

  • If someone is sick, please don’t come. It’s very hard to convince a sick child to be happy.

  • There are no public bathrooms at this location but it’s just a few minutes from Napanee so plan your drive and bathroom breaks accordingly

  • Your friendly, on leash dog is more than welcome to join! (please note that the farm owners have very gentle St. Bernard’s on the premises that may be outside in their area of the farm.)

  • I like to be silly with young kids to get those real genuine smiles so I might on occasion ask you to be silly with your kids too by making funny faces at them behind my back. You’ve been forewarned :)

  • If you need to bring a snack for your child make sure it is a non-messy one like goldfish crackers and not chocolate!

  • Remember that it’s supposed to be fun, so a happy and relaxed parent will naturally make your kids be happy and relaxed. Photographing over 750 children over 12 years means that I know exactly how kids are going to behave and that means not perfectly. And that’s okay. I’m of the let kids be kids mindset and know that kids are going to act silly - that’s when the magic happens. I have tons of patience and have very active kids myself so don’t be worried ahead of time. If you think there are any special things I should know about your child (behaviour, sensitivity to noise, etc) then please let me know in an email.
