Wearing a Hijab in your Maternity Photoshoot

When Lina and I started planning her Maternity Photoshoot we went over different options of dresses that were available in the studio (which you can find on the Maternity Wardrobe Collection/Client Closet page) as there were some important criteria to consider.

We needed to make sure that Lina wore dresses that made her feel beautiful and gorgeous but also we needed to make sure Lina was covered so she was comfortable.  After we decided which dresses Lina would wear for her maternity portraits in the studio, Lina was able to go through the Hijab’s she brought from home to see if any matched the dresses in person. Lina invested in her maternity session by choosing a few options at local stores to bring with her as well as ones she had at home.

I love the choices she brought and we played around with which ones would be best while she was here (I’m the only one in the studio during sessions which made it easy for Lina to feel  comfortable changing her Hijab in the bathroom or in the main studio).

Take a look at my favourites from our time together!  I can’t decide which look I love best as I love them all!

If you have been on the fence about booking a Maternity Photography Session because you weren’t sure how we could incorporate your Hijab or something from your culture or religion into the session please do reach out to me - I’m happy to help brainstorm ideas with you and I truly believe Maternity Photoshoots are for everyone no matter your background! Check out Lina’s beautiful maternity photoshoot below!

This first look is everything!! We paired one of the prettiest Couture Gowns we have in our Client Wardrobe Collection - our Cappuccino coloured, soft tulle designer dress with intricate hand beaded flowers from one of the top Maternity Dress Designer in the Maternity Photography world, with Lina’s soft, muted colour Hijab in soft pinks, browns and blues. It matched beautifully but we needed something else to make this look complete. The dress is sleeveless which wouldn’t work for Lina, so I paired one of our fabrics we use for Fabric Looks (you can find more information about Fabric Looks available during your Maternity Session here) and it completed the entire image. I LOVE the way the colours all came together!

I paired this dress with a soft muted green backdrop to complete the look and by the smile on Lina’s face you can tell she loved it too! Her eyes lit up and honestly it was one of my fave looks from our time together. Because clients can choose their dresses/looks ahead of time, Lina knew that this dress has a low cut bodice that there was a chance her Hijab wouldn’t cover completely. Lina brought in a soft pink tank top that easily went with the other soft hues ensuring she was covered up in the right spots but it didn’t distract from the overall soft, romantic feel we were going for with this look.

She looks just stunning doesn’t she?!!

Lina came into the studio with this super fun Cheetah patterned Hijab on and even though she had brought a different Hijab with her to pair with this Velvet Brown Dress from our Client Wardrobe Collection I knew as soon as I saw it that it would be perfect! It’s fun and youthful just like Lina! And when Lina came out of the bathroom with this dress on her smile was from ear to ear. She felt absolutely stunning in it!! That’s the kind of feeling we want from every dress chosen! She couldn’t say enough about how beautiful she felt in it - I was so happy for her! When we’re pregnant sometimes we don’t feel our best, but I want every Mama in my studio to feel like the gorgeous Mother they are!!

I paired this dress with a neutral backdrop so Lina’s smile could fill up the frame!

This blue dress is becoming a client favourite! It is so flattering on all body shapes as it just easily drapes and has stretch so you feel comfortable wearing it. We loved the neutral Hijab Lina wore in the first look so it was easy to use it again with this outfit. I loved the jewelry Lina wore for her maternity photoshoot and you can just see the fun little star on her wrist in this image. I added a fun texture to this pink rose backdrop and Lina’s smile says how much she loved it!

The last look for Lina was this bright purple dress that was fun and youthful and I paired it with a fun Summery Vibe backdrop. The whole image gives me all those happy vibes - and the excitement Lina feels about becoming a Mom pairs well with this portrait. I LOVE bright colours, and while it may not be for everyone, in this case the entire image gives me such a happy feeling!

I’m thrilled Lina loved this image as much as I did!!

I hope you enjoyed a look at my favourite portraits from Lina’s Maternity Photoshoot. Her Hijab choices were on point - and I think every look came together beautifully. Lina felt amazing and gorgeous and that’s all I want from any Maternity Client that comes into the studio.
